Application Performance Audit
Understand Application Performance Across The Network
Teneo helps companies to reduce cost and increase efficiency by understanding and improving network and application performance.
Our solutions help organisations to:
- Improve the performance of applications
- Manage the network for application delivery
- Positively impact the user experience of the end customer
- Optimise WAN and LAN performance
- Rapidly troubleshoot problems
Teneo's Application Performance Audit (APA) provides visibility of Application, Server and Network activity, helping you make informed decisions related to performance, upgrades and infrastructure changes.
APA is an excellent fit for customers who are currently rolling out new applications, upgrading Servers or WAN links, trying to resolve undefined performance problems or need immediate information on how application performance is impacting users.
APA is a flexible consultancy service, designed so that organisations with restricted budgets, or those with specific projects can benefit from the same leading edge tools used by some of the worlds largest companies.
Teneo's expertise and experience in deploying these tools efficiently and understanding the results, will make a valuable addition to the skills that customers already have in house.

A recent customer used APA to understand congestion on one of their main WAN links. APA narrowed the problem down to a misconfigured device, so avoiding the need for a costly WAN upgrade.
Understanding Application Performance
Teneo will spend an agreed number of days on site, installing analysis equipment in strategically placed data collection points on the networks that are to be monitored.
Further visits will be made to retrieve report information and to move the analysis equipment as required. On completion of the consultancy, Teneo will decommission the equipment and create a report that details our findings and recommendations.

View Bandwidth Utilisation by Site
A recent customer wanted to understand the root cause of poor performance on a key application. APA gave the customer valuable insight into hardware and network load, that showed that the existing infrastructure was performing well — information that they were able to take back to the application vendor.
How APA Works
Teneo will dedicate a Systems Engineer to work with the customer to understand the application and network infrastructure, what problems are being experienced, what further information is required and how best to address the issues.
Teneo will then make a proposal to the customer as to time required to complete the Application Performance Audit and which products should be used to provide the best results.
Typical audits are 3–5 days in length. A 4 day audit would involve 3 visits to site and a final day to produce the report. Site visits are normally spread over a 3 to 4 week period, to enable the right amount of data to be collected and to allow us to gather data from a number of sites or locations.
Consultancy Focus Areas
Teneo's consultancy service can cover, but is not limited to areas such as:
- Visibility on real time WAN usage and protocol breakdown
- Collate information that will enable the provision of future SLA's to the business
- Provide visibility into exactly which applications are being used and by whom
- Automatically identify when and where problems are occurring or occurred
- Identify and quantify the impact of non-business and unwanted traffic
- Ensure the most effective deployment of QOS
- Identify and remove unwanted traffic instead of unnecessarily upgrading links
- View and plan the impact of applications on the network over time
- Identify the "hot spots" on the network by providing an overview of the top interfaces, protocols, and hosts
- Pinpoint the exact cause of a network problem
- Provide the flexibility to define applications as a combination of ports, IP address, or Type of Service (ToS).
- Understand normal application performance through historic baselines
- Know when performance becomes unacceptable
- Isolate application response time problems to the network, server, or application
- Gather performance diagnostics automatically as problems occur
- Measure the before and after impact of infrastructure changes and validate their effectiveness
